Operating as a Team

It’s the start of a new year and we all have probably set personal goals for ourselves for the new year. But have you set down with your spouse and set goals as a couple for your marriage, family and business? Often, many couples do not view their marriage/spouse as a team. One or both spouses make plans/goals for their lives without considering their spouse. This happens due to one or both partners not unifying or becoming one with their mate.

“and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.” Mark 10:8

We are taught from the Bible, once you are married you become one with your spouse. You and your spouse are a team and should operate as one. That means when something/someone comes against your spouse, it/they come against you. You should work together to solve the problem. Always remember, your spouse is your teammate not your enemy. Some people will say it’s you and your spouse against the world and at times that will ring true. So, I have come up with a list of ways of how and why you and your spouse should operate as a team.

How & Why to Operate as a Team

1)      Decision Making – every decision made should be a collaboration; remember everything you do will affect your spouse

2)      View your spouse as your teammate and not your opponent – this is especially true when you may be going through a trying time in your marriage. Work with your spouse and not against your spouse

3)      Never let anyone come between you and your spouse – this is an old age rule, you never let anyone talk against your spouse or draw a wedge between the two of you.

4)      Always keep God first – when you have God as the coach of your team, when problems arise, He will guide you and give you exactly what you need to get through.

When it comes to your marriage and your spouse, you must be on guard and protect it. Satan will try to come in and destroy your family’s unit. You must recognize this, connect with your spouse, go to God and let Him handle the rest. Don’t let satan or anyone else try to tear your team a part. God’s word says “…let no one separate” (Mark 10:9). So, if you haven’t already, you and your teammate go to God TOGETHER and seek Him for your 2017. When you operate as a team, God can do greater things than you can imagine!

Happy New year! Be blessed…love y’all for real!
